It’s been ages since i last used my tumblr account. well anyway, just wanna share my Pulp Summer Slam 13 experience. it was my second Summer Slam since i also watched last year. although the rain disrupted the momentum of the Slam and caused much delay for a bit, it was an awesome Slam nevertheless! local bands Chicosci, Philia, and Mr Bones and the Boneyard Circus went first, and they were all great! A Skylit Drive was the first international band to play, and they were awesome despite their set was a bit short. they performed songs from identity on fire and wires + love the way you lie. they were the band i was looking forward to see + As I Lay Dying. after ASD’s set, i took a breather during Circa Survive’s set to prepare for Dragonforce onwards. when DragonForce went in, i was speechless. Herman Li and Sam Totman’s shredding duo and Marc Hudson’s extremely high voice and energy amazed me a lot! Coheed and Cambria also put on a great set! a pyro show came in during their last song “Welcome Home” which made their set go out with a bang! then came As I Lay Dying, the band i was looking forward to see the most. luckily i got to the frontmost of the crowd as they were setting up. the moment they played their first song “Cauterize”, up to their last song “Through Struggle”, i just had goosebumps all over and singing along through most songs in their set. Tim Lambesis was a fucking beast when he punches through the air through most of their set! and seeing Phil Sgrosso and Nick Hipa shredding in front of me was epic. after AILD’s set i trooped back as most of my energy was drained and i left midway through Cannibal Corpse’s set. i wasn’t able to buy band merch due to limited budget, but i’ll save up more to buy some when Pulp announces their clearance sale soon. overall, this year’s Slam was another amazing one. hopefully i can save enough to get Pulp Royalty aka VIP for next year’s Slam! hoping for another solid lineup next year!
